The Passing of a Black Wand

Congratulations to Anaar on her recent rite of passage into Grandmastership in the Feri tradition. While there is no consensus on what the role of a Grandmaster is in Feri, Anaar has said that she would like to act as a resource for the Feri community, and that she strongly believes that Feri has no hierarchy.

In regards to the differing views of Grandmastership that are held by different lines of our tradition, we here at Witch Eye would like to extend the following observations. Some lines of our tradition consider the role to be purely honorary, while others see it as a definite and important spiritual function within the larger community of F(a)eri(e). Still other lines do not recognize the role at all. None of these views are incorrect. In the end it is our personal practice which makes us Feri, not the recognition of titles or honorifics, however deserved they may be.

The editors of Witch Eye extend our love, respect and blessings to Anaar. She is a fine witch, and we are honored that she is part of the Feri community.
